How-to

Connect your coding agent to meraGEO

meraGEO runs a remote MCP server. Once your agent is connected you can ask it, in plain words, how visible a site is in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, or to start a fresh scan, and it answers from meraGEO without you opening a browser. The address is https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent.

What your agent can do

  • get_ai_visibility_report: the latest score, how often each assistant mentions the site, and the main issues. It reads stored results and starts nothing.
  • start_ai_visibility_scan: request a new scan. Scans are limited per day.
  • get_scan_status: whether a scan is running, finished or failed.
  • get_profile: which meraGEO account is connected.

The first time you connect, your browser opens so you can sign in to meraGEO and approve access. After that your agent holds a token and refreshes it on its own. You can stop access at any time by removing the server from your agent.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http merageo https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent

Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose merageo and select Authenticate. Approve access in the browser tab that opens.

opencode

Add the server to your opencode.json:

{
  "mcp": {
    "merageo": {
      "type": "remote",
      "url": "https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent"
    }
  }
}

Then run:

opencode mcp auth merageo

Codex

codex mcp add merageo --url https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent

Codex opens your browser to sign in and waits for you to approve access, so the command does not return until you do. If no browser opens, or you closed it, run codex mcp login merageo.

optiq code, and other agents that only run local servers

Some agents can only start a local command, not call a web address. A small bridge called mcp-remote connects them. Sign in once in a terminal:

npx -y mcp-remote https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent

Approve access in the browser, then press Ctrl+C. Do this first because some agents give a server only about 30 seconds to start, which is too short to sign in. Then add it:

optiq code mcp add merageo -- npx -y mcp-remote https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent

If something goes wrong

  • Use https://merageo.com/api/mcp/agent exactly. The older /api/mcp address is for ChatGPT and does not ask coding agents to sign in.
  • If your agent says the server needs authentication, run its sign-in step again (/mcp in Claude Code, opencode mcp auth merageo in opencode).
  • The page that opens warns that the application “registered itself” for agents that identify themselves that way. That is expected. Only approve it if you just started the connection.

No agent yet?

The free scan works in the browser, and your fix report includes a file you can hand to any coding agent.
